aftercare

congrats on your sick new piece!

now that you’re going home with it, the quality of the heal is entirely in the client’s hands.

leaving your appointment

S E C O N D S K I N

if you were given a second skin/saniderm type bandage, you can leave that on for 1-3 days, 3 being the recommended amount to have your tattoo heal fastest.

some fluid build up under the second skin is to be expected, especially if you have a larger piece with more shading involved. don’t worry about it, it’s totally normal. let it do its thing.

but if it starts annoying you or peeling, you can always take it off sooner.

if you were given plastic wrap, you can leave that on anywhere from 3 hours to 1 day. it’s really to make sure your tattoo gets home safe and clean while it’s at its most sensitive. they heal just as well with proper care.

remember there will be some seepage so beware of your clothes and sheets especially that first night.

day 1 - 3

wash your hands as you prepare to remove your wrap gently.

with the tips of your fingers, wash the tattoo with warm water and mild soap (or sensitive if you know you have sensitive skin) of leftover residue.

pat dry with paper towel. don’t rub.

apply a thin layer of moisturizer to the entirety of the tattoo.

day 3 - 14

i have always gotten amazing results with my own tattoos by applying moisturizer twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed. i swear by aquaphor but a sensitive lotion also does the trick.

apply thin coats so that the tattoo can still air out during the day.

during this period, avoid submerging the tattoo in water or sweating a lot. that means baths, pools, seawater, saunas, hot tubs. you run the risk of ink fallout.

don’t pick at your scabs! i know it’s fun but it can leave your piece looking patchy. :’(

in two weeks, you should have a 99% healed tattoo! obviously this can be slightly longer if you got something large.

day 31

as time passes, the ink will settle into your dermis and you will see the the actual color of your healed tattoo.

this is when you take a healed pic to send me! :) please!

remember tattoos will lighten over time, but proper care will preserve them the best. regular moisturizing and spf protection helps.

if there was ink fallout during healing or you’re not satisfied with the opacity after your heal, i am glad to offer free lifetime touchups. i want your piece to look its best as much as you do.
